Teacher: Eija Lähteenmaki
Course: Bioproduction and process
This observation was regarding students writing skills. In this approach, teacher have a integrated view from other courses, because students have to report since beginning of course how to report results according to the rules. As they learn in a Problem Based Learning approach, for instance, physics and mathematics, they need to report the constructed knowledge according to rules of using right words, expressions, font formatting, paragraph, spaces between physical quantities and units, figures and tables.

After a first report, teacher gives them a grade, based on their mistakes and improvements since they have learned to follow the rules. A difference between our institutions and Finnish ones is that they begin the course learning in a practical way and writing reports also begin with these practices.
Environment: the class observed was in a informatics laboratory, where students can access all software and technological needs for their writings.
Social environment: it could be observed the interaction between students and teacher. Teacher from different areas also give them some tips regarding the measurements and support not only regarding writing, but specific subjects related to heir courses.
Psychological environment: could be observed that students prefer practical aspects than writing, but they percept the need of writing a good report. Asking some students, they argued that is very interesting being autonomous to learn according their preferences, but it is not always practiced.
