Observation #2 - Android Programming

The class was in a classroom with good learning environment. Teacher have started with a mini lecture about programming and Android environment.

It could be observed that teacher has lectured basic concepts regarding programming and Android programming. Students were then divided in small groups and had to define some projects to program a broadcast application related to Weather.

A web page was chosen to show students how to do a program to Android systems, called Udacity (https://www.udacity.com)

Related to physical and technological environment, it can be observed that TAMK has modern computers, classrooms and Labs to teach students. Also, we could observe that in this case, the classes with had small group of students (20). Teacher explained that this specific course was created for companies employees.

In terms social environment, it could be observed the interaction between students, and between teacher and students. Groups were created in the beginning of the course and the goal is to create and present a final solution for the problem. Teacher works as a coach to help them. Students share responsibilities related to program creation.

Regarding psychological environment, teaching approach scaffold the knowledge construction based on students previous experiences in a student-centered environment. Classroom is organized to function in small groups and the class is based on problem based learning method.
