Observation #10 – Me and My City

This observation was regarding lifelong learning. In this approach students from basic education from Tampere have the opportunity to work as in a real social environment in a project called Me and My City.
In this project children work as adults and can experience market, social and customers environment to learn how nowadays society works. There are many companies in this city and teachers act as guides to some activities that include: government, garbage collectors, banks, supermarket, coffee shop, restaurant, grocery stores, post office, construction, forest, delivery services, television, technology and other shops, medical clinics, between others.




















It’s a good opportunity where children spent one day acting and working as in the real society, so they can learn and practice some values like citizenship, environmental respect, customers rights and needs and other roles that workers have in our society.
Environment: specific place prepared to establish some companies and organizations like municipality. They have also good technological environment with all they need in terms of computers, songs, and multimedia projectors.
Social environment: it could be observed the interaction between children and how they interact each other. Teachers and parents observe and give some guidance.
Psychological environment: could be observed that students enjoy work and some of them could also choose their professions based in this kinds of experience.
